Volunteer

What are the responsibilities of an iCARE volunteer?

“I volunteer to read and look forward each year to meeting new students and new teachers, because each time I do it, I also continue to learn.  My goal as a volunteer is to make an impact on some of the children and to continue to nurture in them the acceptance that we all need to foster. “ – Christine Dumouchel, iCare Volunteer Reader

Children love story time. Volunteering as a reader for the iCare Program in the Mansfield Public Schools is a great way to ensure all students develop a spark of empathy for peers who may be different from them, in a setting they enjoy.

Typically, volunteers read to 1-3 classrooms during a three month period. Readers may choose books from a special selection of pre-approved titles available in the school library. CORI forms are required.

iCare has helped develop a culture of acceptance for many years. The program has been successful because of our wonderful community volunteers! Please consider volunteering today.
