Second Annual Jamie Fund Scholarship Awarded at Mansfield High School
Tuesday, June 02, 2009

Jeff Fortin, a graduating senior, was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Jamie Fund during a ceremony at Mansfield High School.  This is the second year that the Jamie Fund has provided a scholarship.  The scholarship is given to a graduating senior who will be pursuing a degree in special education at an accredited four-year college or university and has demonstrated a commitment to special needs education and awareness.

Jeff will be attending Bridgewater State College in the fall pursuing a degree in special education, which is an area that he has been involved in for many years.  Jeff started interacting with special needs children at the age of eight when he would help his mother, who was a Special Education teacher.  During high school, Jeff has volunteered for Special Olympics and has been a Project Teammate Leader for two years, which is a program that matches student-mentors with special needs students.  He has also been on the honor roll for all four years and has won the Most Industrious Business Award.

The Jamie Fund would like to congratulate Jeff and wish him luck in his academic endeavors.
